WFH employees to be prioritised for vaccination in the Philippines

The Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE) is urging the government to include employees who work from home in its A4 vaccination priority list.

DOLE’s labour secretary Silvestre Bello III said staff who WFH may still go to their workplaces from time to time even though they work mostly from home. As such, they should be included in the government’s A4 (front-liners in essential sectors) vaccination priority list. 

The inclusion of these employees in the list will benefit around 16,000 workers in Metro Manila who WFH, he said, with the vaccination of the A4 priority group scheduled to start this month. 

Based on Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 117,  people in the A4 priority list include private-sector workers required to be physically present at their workplace outside their residences; government employees, including those in government-owned and controlled corporations and local government units, informal sector workers; and self-employed professionals who may be required to work outside their residences and those working in private households.

Since it started its vaccination programme in March, the country has so far administered more than 5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses. The four vaccine brands currently available in the country are Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V and Pfizer-BioNTech, according to Philippine News Agency.
