Recharge EX with employee wellbeing at the core
- Shawn Liew
With the pandemic bringing about a shift in priorities for many people, HR leaders are now prioritising employee wellbeing and mental health as they look to develop a resilient workforce that can thrive in the world of hybrid work.
To create productive and motivated employees, the employee experience (EX) is being reimagined and employee wellbeing – which considers employees’ physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual states – is now taking centre stage, suggested Stephanie Nash, Chief People Officer, Circles.Life; and Co-Founder & Chief People Officer, Thrive HR Exchange.
She added, “The events of the pandemic have made it painfully clear that workforce wellbeing should be a business imperative. This shift has elevated wellbeing from a programme to a core business strategy, and the speed of change has raised questions on how best to initiate an organisational wellbeing strategy.”
Recommending that organisations recharge their EX with wellbeing at the core, Nash will be speaking at HR Tech Festival Live on Tuesday, May 10, from 10.30am-11am (SGT).
Her session, titled Employee Wellbeing Takes Centre Stage. Recharge Your EX With Wellbeing at The Core, will offer insights into how to increase engagement through wellbeing offerings, understand the business case for wellbeing, recognise how to achieve maximum impact with wellbeing programmes, and appreciate the link between organisational wellbeing and performance.
HR Tech Festival Live is a one-day, in-person event that will take place at the Suntec Exhibition and Convention Centre in Singapore and is part of the week-long HR Tech Festival Asia 2022, which will also include the virtual HR Tech Festival Online, which is taking place from May 11-13.
Carrying on the EX conversation at HR Tech Festival Online is Lauren Huntington, EX Solution Strategy Lead, Southeast Asia, India, Greater China, Qualtrics. In her session titled, Designing the Ultimate Employee Experience Programme Beyond Engagement, which is taking place on Thursday, May 12, 1.15pm-1.45pm (SGT), Huntington will discuss how the pivot to remote and hybrid work has accelerated a new take on what it means to be an employee.
In examining how this pivot is also disrupting what employees expect when it comes to employer flexibility, work-life balance, wellbeing, and workplace safety, she will provide answers to how organisations can measure outcomes beyond engagement to drive retention, business outcomes, and an engaged workforce.
When it comes to an engaged workforce, healthy employees also typically translate to a healthy business. Organisations this, need to be intentional when focusing on wellbeing, just as it is integral for any other part of building a team and running a business, said Dr Anurag Apte, Senior Medical Director, HR, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa at Procter & Gamble.
He told HRM Asia, “Promoting the importance of well-being, alongside life and work management, and career goals, give our people a greater sense of purpose, happiness, and fulfilment that lead to better engagement and productivity.”
“Going forward, organisations would not only be sought out for the work they offer, but the culture and environment which they create, that would enable individuals to truly flourish and thrive. This also enhances the talent attraction and retention strategy.”
In his session titled Best Practices for Supporting Employee Mental Health and Resilience to Propel Business Growth, which is taking place at HR Tech Festival Online on Thursday, May 12, 1.30pm-2pm (SGT), Dr Anurag will delve into the business imperative for strong mental wellbeing policies and practices in the workplace. He will also provide tips on how to enable employees to have a meaningful, happy, healthy, and productive life that goes together with business success.
