India-based employees can anticipate their salaries increasing by 10% next yea – the highest in the Asia-Pacific region, according to a report released by Willis Towers Watson.

The report also projects an 8.3% salary increment in Indonesia, 6.9% in China, 6% in the Philippines, and 4% in both Hong Kong and Singapore.

Sambhav Rakyan, Data Services Practice Leader, Asia-Pacific, Willis Towers Watson, attributed the projected high increase in India to the “steady economic growth, progressive reforms, and cautious optimism across sectors”, as cited by India’s Economic Times.

In Asia-Pacific, the pharmaceuticals sector is expected to show the highest salary increase for 2019, at 10.4%.

However, automation and artificial intelligence could change alter the paradigm of work scopes and skills required.
